Grammy Peggy’s Banana Bread

Grammy Peggy's Banana Bread

This recipe is my grandmother’s, so you can’t go wrong, right? WRONG! This recipe needs love. It needs care. It needs very very ripe bananas. So, if your bananas aren’t very brown and soft, don’t bother. If they are – definitely make this bread! I love this recipe – it’s easy and delicious and doesn’t even have any added oil. Yum!

Grammy Peggy’s Banana Bread

  • 2 c flour
  • 1 t salt
  • 1 t baking soda
  • ¾ c sugar
  • 3 ripe bananas
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • ½ c chopped walnuts

Combine the flour, salt, and baking soda, and set aside. In a separate bowl, mash the bananas and stir in the eggs, sugar, and nuts. Add the dry ingredients and stir until just combined – don’t over do it! Pour into a greased 9×5 loaf pan. Bake at 350 for 50-60 minutes or until knife inserted comes out clean.

I freeze nearly black bananas for banana bread often. There is nothing better for naturally sweetness.
